At this year’s Solar & Storage Live UK, energy storage solutions provider Elecnova introduced 2 new products tailored for the European market: the Solar Pro series 107 kWh hybrid cabinet and the NovaStack series 1 MW/2 MWh container-based system.
Compactness, adaptability, and safety are the key highlights of the products. According to the company, Solar Pro is designed for the UK’s distributed and commercial-scale applications, such as factories, hotels, and farms, among others, where compactness and environmental resilience are critical. It combines battery cells, a battery management system (BMS), a hybrid inverter, and a thermal management system in the same enclosure. This ‘all-in-one’ system has a maximum energy storage capacity of 107 kWh. The company employs a cooling technology that is based on circulating air, maintaining a cell-to-cell temperature delta of less than 6°C. The company states that this cooling technology supports the battery unit’s lifespan of up to 8,000 charging and discharging cycles.
On the safety front, it has an IP55-rated cabinet. While the system’s capacity can be expanded by connecting multiple systems in parallel on the AC side, the company didn’t share further technical details. The company added that its compatibility with various hybrid inverter brands helps users maximize savings through tariff arbitrage and policy incentives by regulating grid frequency, load balancing, and other ancillary services.
The NovaStack system, on the other hand, is tailored for stable operation across large-scale PV plants or utility-scale projects. Its 20 ft container features battery packs, a cabinet for grid connection, a power conversion system (PCS), a high-voltage box, and a fire protection system. The 2 MWh battery banks provide a backup of up to 1 MW 3-phase AC for 2 hours at a nominal discharge rate. Additionally, it features an individual battery pack-level fire detection and suppression system. Elecnova added that the fire suppression system works on an aerosol-based mechanism.
