Trinasolar, a global leader in smart solar products and energy solutions, joined industry leaders at PV CellTech USA 2025 in San Francisco last week. Ethan Ely, Product Manager at Trinasolar US, presented to an audience of leading solar industry professionals and technology experts on the company’s advanced next-generation PV technologies, including TOPCon Ultra and perovskite/silicon tandem cells.               

Ely’s presentation highlighted Trina’s ongoing research and development (R&D) efforts that are pushing the boundaries of solar cell efficiency and reliability. He emphasized that TOPCon remains the industry’s mainstream high-efficiency technology today and still holds significant potential for further performance gains as innovation continues. The audience showed strong interest, with several questions focusing on the advantages of perovskite + silicon tandem technology and the key challenges associated with scaling and stabilizing these high-efficiency cells—an area where Trinasolar continues to focus as part of its R&D program.

Trinasolar further reinforced its leadership in tandem innovation with its July 2025 announcement that the company has set five new world records in both cell efficiency and power output. The 3.1m² module, produced with 210mm x 105mm perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells, achieved power output of 841W and 31% efficiency, independently certified by third parties. 

Reflecting on the event, Ely said, “It was a privilege to share Trina’s latest advancements with such an accomplished group of peers and innovators. Conferences like PV CellTech provide a valuable forum for collaboration between industry and technology leaders as we collectively work to accelerate the future of solar energy.
