I’m pretty pleased that I got through today’s search without resorting to a hint, as it contained some tricky words – several of which I only knew from The Carpenters' song Jambalaya (On The Bayou) – Crawfish Pie being notable by its absence.
My initial thought in connection with the pun “I’m a ladle hungry” was soup, but after spotting RAGOUT I knew we were searching for something a little more substantial; soup is hardly the kind of thing you need if you’re hungry.
It took me two goes to get CHILI, as I picked out the L and I in the wrong order, but that minor hitch aside I navigated this tricky game without a hiccup, which is something I always suffer from when I eat a chili!

What is NYT Strands?
Strands is the NYT's not-so-new-any-more word game, following Wordle and Connections. It's now a fully fledged member of the NYT's games stable that has been running for a year and which can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
