The Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP) has unveiled the list of pre-qualifying companies and consortia for the Al Dibdibah Power and Al Shagaya Renewable Energy Project (Phase III Zone 2) with 500 MW capacity.
A number of international companies are vying for the solar project that will be developed as an independent power producer (IPP).
France’s TotalEnergies, Turkey’s Kalyon Enerji, and Linak Yatirim Enerji Uretim Isletme Hizmetleri, also from Turkey, are competing as individual companies, among the pre-qualifiers.
ACWA Power of Saudi Arabia has joined hands with Alternative Energy Projects Company, while Jinko Power (HK) Company Limited is competing along with Kuwait-based Combined Group Contracting Company.
EDF Renouvelables is leading the consortium that comprises Kuwait’s Abdullah Al Hamad Al Sagar and Brothers, and South Korea’s Korean Western Power (KOWEPO).
Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company Masdar is in the fray alongside local Kuwaiti firm Fouad Alghanim & Sons General Trading Contracting Company.
US-based Swift Current Management Services (SCE) has roped in Arizona National for General Trading & Contracting Company as a partner for the project.
China’s Tianjin Zhonghuan New Energy is in competition for the contract along with its compatriot Sinotec Co. Ltd. and Kuwait-based Mohammed Abdulmohsin Al-Kharafi & Sons.
The projects are planned to be built in the Shagayah region of Jahra Governorate, Kuwait, under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Winners will secure a 30-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Ministry of Electricity & Water & Renewable Energy (MEWRE).
