ALMM compliance: The Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is taking the implementation of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II for solar cells seriously. In an advisory issued, it has asked for all tenders with short bidding timelines ‘issued clearly to circumvent’ the ALMM, to be scrapped and new bids issued. In an advisory issued, the ministry said that in August 2025 some government agencies have been observed to have issued bids with very less window for bid submission, as low as 7 days for procurement. It has also instructed all state agencies to strictly comply with the existing rules and regulations when issuing bids for procurement. Avaada projects in Rajasthan: Avaada Group recently announced 2 solar PV projects in Rajasthan, worth an investment of INR 92 billion. This includes 1.56 GW solar with 2,500 MWh energy storage project at Pugal, and a 282 MW DC/200 MW AC solar project at Shri Dunagargarh in Bikaner. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Pugal project, while inaugurating the Bikaner facility. Avaada says both the projects use n-type TOPCon bifacial solar panels produced by group entity Avaada Electro. Modi also inaugurated the company’s 280 MW solar project at Surendranagar in Gujarat, and laid the foundation stone of a 100 MW project in the state’s Vadodara district.  

950 MW module line: Waaree Energies Limited has announced the commercial operations of 950 MW solar module manufacturing line. This has come up at its factory in Degam village in Chikli, Navsari region of Gujarat. In February 2025, the company launched commercial operations of its 1.4 GW solar cell production plant at Chikli (see Waaree Energies Commissions 1.4 GW Solar Cell Manufacturing Factory).
