Write valuable things to your readers! Don’t explain as in school. Only create new/original knowledge (if it’s useful, who cares?).
Also, focus on Clarity, your audience, and writing simply Write Simply, with Clarity and the Audience in mind. Make sure readers learn something new.
Why writing an essay: the writer writes because he wants to think. Here are a couple of thoughts here:
- The readers don’t owe you an appreciation of your thinking. You should not publish that, just yet.I think here lies an important point where the Second Brain and Journaling come in. In a second brain, we write for ourselves, writing for the thinking. But then, when we publish, we must make the switch and think about the readers first and create value.
We are moving forward from instability (which is the interesting one), not stability (when we say chronologically what happened). The interesting one is the first one when you challenge each opinion and ask questions, challenge, and comment on points they made.

# On Frequency
I always go by Less is More. In the end, the reader gets less noise and more quality. I believe quality is the key to winning in the long run. By compromising the content into less, you also provide value to the readers by focusing on the most important. At least that is my Mantra whenever I write, asking myself, “Can I cut more?” and: “Write Simply, with Clarity and the Audience in mind"—very much Derek Sivers-style.
# Connections inspire
I found captivating connections when digging through my Obsidian graph and backlinks. You get insights that you wouldn’t get by just thinking. Some of the links I may have made years ago when I found something insightful. So, this is invaluable to creating inspiring content. Manifesting in the differentiation between writing for myself (thinking) and publishing articles (bringing value to readers).
For example, while writing about this very topic, “Writing Effectively”, I found connections such as Smart Note Taking, second brain, Journaling, and personal knowledge management system, which are, to me, all very relevant to coming up with ideas, and in the end, writing effectively.
