In the last decade, India has emerged as a software engineering hub, and Indian software companies have taken prominent positions in the global IT sector. In fact, India is expected to have a digital economy of $1 trillion by 2025, and it is also estimated that as of 2020, India’s IT workforce accounts for 4.36 million employees. (1)
While global outsourcing is a key leader in the advancements that India has made, emerging startups and international leaders have also set up shop there as well. The software development community in India is forward-leaning, and this group of advanced practitioners is building the next generation of cloud applications and services.
In fact, we count over 200 companies that are using open source Temporal in India today and there are hundreds of additional unknown users. More importantly, apps are running on Temporal. As we look to better serve our customers across the globe, we are always evaluating new regions for our cloud service.
Today, we turned on ap-south-1 (Mumbai) for Temporal Cloud, so we can better serve this growing community. India-based developers represent a very important part of the Temporal community, and we are dedicated to better serving this region.
