Stellantis, parent company of Ram, announced it will halt development of full-size all-electric pickup trucks due to slowing demand in North America. The company is shifting focus to its range-extended electric pickup, now renamed Ram 1500 REV (formerly Ramcharger). This revised strategy aims to set new benchmarks in the half-ton segment for range, towing, and payload. The original fully electric Ram 1500 pickup, initially slated for production in 2024 and later pushed to 2025 and then 2026, is now indefinitely postponed as Stellantis recalibrates its product offerings within its broader goal of launching over 25 new all-electric vehicles by the end of the decade. Production of the range-extended Ram 1500 is still anticipated to begin in 2026.
