JLR expands solar capacity: Luxury automotive manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has launched a new 18 MW solar farm at its Gaydon headquarters in the UK. It will supply up to 31% of the site’s energy requirements. This is 1st of its 3 UK solar energy projects. In 2026, it will start installing over 10 MW of solar car ports at its Merseyside site, which the company claims will become the largest solar car port in the UK on completion. JLR is also set to complete the ‘largest’ automotive manufacturing rooftop solar array in the country, with over 18,000 solar panels with 10.7 MW capacity at its Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre (EPMC) in Wolverhampton. This builds on an existing rooftop array. The combined solar capacity, it says, will meet nearly 40% of the site’s energy needs. It will support the production of electric drive units and batteries for its next-generation vehicles. These efforts follow JLR’s joint venture in China, CJLR, adding 20 MW rooftop solar installation. JLR explains that these projects are part of its target to source at least 1/3rd of its global energy needs from onsite and near-site renewables as an alternative to natural gas by 2030. 

Iberdrola and Ingeteam partner: Iberdrola and Ingeteam have announced expansion of their collaboration on renewable energy storage by hybridizing PV plants in Burgos, Huelva, and Extremadura in Spain with 100 MW/200 MWh battery systems. Each project consists of 5 medium-voltage stations that manage 25 MW / 50 MWh. Ingeteam will supply power electronics, controls, and SCADA, with operations starting late 2025. The €26 million PERTE-funded project aims to improve renewable integration and supports Spain’s energy transition and decarbonization goals.
