According to the latest edition of the report Solar Heat Worldwide of the International Energy Agency, Mexico’s solar thermal market experienced the highest growth rate globally from 2023 to 2024: 14%! In addition, Mexico is the worldwide market leader for solar process heating with 273 plants installed in the industrial sector according to the German consultancy solrico.
This growth is a response to the need to reduce energy costs and fossil fuel imports. The new administration continues to show a positive stance toward the renewable energy sector, demonstrating greater openness to private investments for large-scale PV projects and an increase in the size of distributed generation systems to 0.7 MW, as well as the new self-consumption model, in which PV systems’ capacity can reach 20 MW.
