Germany’s solar PV installations once again fell below the 1 GW mark in June 2025, with the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) reporting 905 MW of newly installed capacity for the month in its Market Data Register. 

For the previous month, the installed capacity has been updated from 1.113 GW reported earlier to 1.146 GW after factoring in registrations updated later (see Germany Installed Over 1 GW Of New Solar In May 2025).  

A major reason for this decline is the drop in the rooftop solar segment, from 566.4 MW in May to 439.4 MW coming online during the reporting month. Ground-mounted PV segment also reported a decline from 491.2 MW in the previous month to 319.4 MW. The balcony solar, or plug-in system, segment remains steady in its growth with 55.5 MW, slightly down from 59.2 MW sequentially.  

The June 2025 additions are a sharp decline from over 1.6 GW reported a year ago, which is what the country needs to add on a monthly basis to be on track to achieve the national target of 215 GW by 2030.  

This makes June the 3rd month this year with under 1 GW of new deployments, after 835 MW in March and 978 MW in April. Having said that, the numbers can go up after an update by the agency as it collects late registrations.

In H1 2025, Germany has deployed 7.02 GW of new PV capacity, expanding the cumulative to over 107.4 GW.
